The JCMBPS (Joint Committee on Mobility of Blind and Partially Sighted People) is an independent body consisting of representatives from the principle organisations of blind, deafblind and partially sighted people, with a specific interest in access and mobility. Secretariat for JCMBPS is provided by Guide Dogs for the Blind Association (Guide Dogs). AimsThe Joint Committee believes that blind, deafblind and partially sighted people should be able to move around and use buildings, streets and transport facilities safely and independently. At the present time, this is not the case, as visually impaired people experience enormous barriers to freedom of movement, seriously limiting their opportunities and choices. Therefore our objectives are:
